Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books Champions

Battle of the Books District and Regional Champions 2016-17

Cumberland County Schools sponsors a program for a team of students from each elementary school to compete for the distinction of being the county champions.

Battle of the Books is a voluntary, competitive reading incentive program for students in grades 4-5. The purpose is to encourage students to read good books and have fun while competing with peers.

Recommended students may try out for this team. The team will consist of 8-10 students. Once a child makes the team they must read all 20 of the books from the book list provided for that year’s Battle of the Books. They must also write questions on each book after reading it. The EOC BOB team meets 1-2 times a week after school.

The school cluster competitions will be held usually in February of that year. Therefore, students will have plenty of time to read the books during the school year.

This program requires dedication and commitment.
